Satyaki’s criminal defamation

According to “LiveLaw”, Satyaki Savarkar, grandnephew of V.D. Savarkar, told the Special MP/MLA Court in Pune during cross-examination that Nathuram Godse, who shot Mahatma Gandhi, and his brother Gopal Godse were “active” RSS members. He also said his mother was Gopal Godse’s daughter, making Nathuram Godse his maternal uncle. The statement came during Satyaki’s criminal defamation case against Rahul Gandhi. Satyaki has alleged that Gandhi defamed Savarkar during a March 5, 2023 speech in London by making false claims about Savarkar. He alleges that Savarkar never wrote the book or described the incident Gandhi referred to, and that the remarks were intended to harm Savarkar’s reputation.
