Former School Principal Advocates 'Jan Shiksha Niti 2026' as Alternative to NEP 2020

During a public demonstration at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, former school principal Sharda Dixit advocated for an alternative framework to the central government's National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Representing the All India Save Education Committee (AISEC), Dixit introduced the 'Jan Shiksha Niti 2026' (People's Education Policy 2026) as a curriculum designed to better reflect public interests.

Dixit, who served as the principal of Narela Senior Secondary School for 25 years, stated that the proposed draft was prepared after visiting 26 Indian states. According to her, representatives consulted students, parents, and other stakeholders about their educational needs. Dixit emphasized that the consensus was a demand for an education system that is strictly secular, scientific, and democratic.

Dixit raised sharp criticisms against the implementation of NEP 2020, alleging that the policy was formulated primarily as an agenda of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). She also claimed that the central policy had not been passed through the Parliament of India.

In contrast, Dixit stated that the alternative 'Jan Shiksha Niti 2026' had been formally approved through a 'Jan Sansad' (People's Parliament) convened in Bangalore. Dixit argued that this grassroots passage gave the alternative framework a democratic mandate that the government's official policy lacks.
