POLICIES
How we verify, correct and stay independent.
CORRECTIONS
Send correction requests to
handles@spot.news. We correct confirmed factual errors promptly and make material corrections visible. Depending on the platform, that may mean updating a caption, pinning a correction, publishing a follow-up, replacing a video or removing it.
VERIFICATION
We verify claims using the strongest available evidence, attribute information clearly and make uncertainty clear. A claim being widely shared online is not evidence that it is true.
FAIRNESS
We aim to report clearly and in context. We represent relevant perspectives honestly, avoid misleading omissions or edits, and give people or organisations facing serious allegations a fair opportunity to respond before publication.
EDITORIAL INDEPENDENCE
Commercial collaborations can extend Spot On’s newsroom work. We work only with partners who align with our values, and every collaboration is subject to editorial oversight, clear disclosure and the same standards of accuracy, fairness and accountability as our journalism. Partners cannot buy favourable treatment or control facts, framing or corrections.
Spot On exists to make public-interest news accessible for young audiences through independent, audience-first journalism that speaks with them, not at them.
EDITORIAL STANDARDS
Our standards policy
Independent selection
We choose stories in the public interest — not to please platforms, partners or powerful people.
No paid editorial access
No one can pay for favourable treatment or control over Spot On’s facts, framing or corrections.
Responsible partnerships
Partnerships can extend our newsroom work when they meet our standards, receive editorial approval and are clearly disclosed to audiences.
