A shocking incident from Kapurthala, Punjab, has sparked outrage after a woman beggar was allegedly assaulted outside the historic Mata Shri Bhadrakali Temple. Police identified the accused as Vikas Sharma, who reportedly runs a shop opposite the temple. The assault allegedly followed a dispute after children accompanying the woman reportedly touched or tampered with his motorcycle. Following the viral video and intervention by the Women’s Commission, police took suo motu cognisance and registered an FIR under relevant BNS provisions. Police teams are conducting raids to locate and arrest Sharma.
