UP CM Adityanath on cows

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while addressing a gathering of saints at Digambar Akhara, spoke about the status of cows in Sanatan tradition. His remarks came after some Muslim demanded that cows be declared a national animal. Yogi said he questioned the use of the word “animal” for cows and asked the clerics, “Hinduo ko tum sikhaoge Gaumata ki puja kaise karni hai?” He said cows are regarded as “Gaumata” in Sanatan culture and are part of India’s cultural heritage, not merely an animal to be given national status.
