Tamil Nadu CM C. Joseph Vijay has announced that all MLAs will get a government vehicle, with ₹75,000/month for fuel, driver and maintenance. The monthly allowance for the assistant will be ₹25,000. Meanwhile, the Greater Chennai Corporation is dealing with a ₹3,500 crore debt burden. Against this backdrop the World Bank is set to finance civic projects in Chennai.
