The Karnataka Health Department has launched a major food safety crackdown across Bengaluru, with more than 30 teams raiding star hotels and inspecting their kitchens and storage facilities. Officials led by Food Safety and Drug Administration Commissioner K Srinivas are checking for expired, adulterated and banned food items, as well as hygiene violations. During the inspections, officials reportedly found rotten onions at one hotel and 31 litres of expired milk packets at another, along with other expired food and rotten vegetables. The raids are continuing across the city to check whether star hotels are meeting required food safety standards.
