Students in Mahoba blocked the Jhansi-Mirzapur Highway
Students in Mahoba, Uttar Pradesh, blocked the Jhansi-Mirzapur Highway on August 19 while protesting over the condition of roads near their school. The students alleged that they were forced to travel through bad and damaged roads, causing problems in their daily commute, and raised their demands through the protest. The protest also led to allegations against the police regarding how they handled the students. However, police denied using force or misbehaving with the students. According to the police, teams from the local and traffic police reached the spot, spoke to the students about their concerns and restored traffic to avoid any untoward situation. Police also said that the students’ grievances were conveyed to the concerned department and that necessary action was being initiated. But visuals from the protest appear to show a different reality.
