SC upholds HC ruling: Pre-conversion backwardness gives no auto-claim to quota upon turning Muslim

The Supreme Court said that a person’s social backwardness under the Hindu social order cannot automatically carry over to another religion after conversion. A bench of Justices Prashant Kumar Mishra and Shree Chandrashekhar dismissed the Tamil Nadu government’s plea against a Madras High Court order.
