SC has said that a person should not face criminal punishment for not singing Vande Mataram

The Supreme Court has said that a person should not face criminal punishment simply for not singing Vande Mataram because of religious or personal beliefs. The observation came while the Court was hearing a petition by Carnatic singer T.M. Krishna, who has challenged legal provisions related to insulting Vande Mataram.
