Sarnath unesco

Ancient Buddhist site Sarnath, located in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon, has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The decision was taken during the 48th session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, held in Busan, South Korea. With this recognition, Sarnath has become India’s 45th UNESCO World Heritage Site and Uttar Pradesh’s fourth UNESCO World Heritage Site.
