A 15-day protest against the Ken-Betwa river-linking project in Madhya Pradesh has been cleared by the police—but the questions raised by protesters remain. Police cleared the protest site in Chhatarpur and sent demonstrators back to their villages, saying rising water levels and the location beneath an under-construction bridge posed a safety risk. Protesters, however, alleged that their leader Amit Bhatnagar was detained.
