01Investigation reveals ONGC donations to Sangh-linked groups
The state-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) donated ₹670.97 crore to 20 organisations linked to the Sangh network over a 10-year period, according to an investigation by The News Minute.
These findings emerge despite statements from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) asserting that it does not require government support.
02Details of CSR spending
Between 2015 and 2025, ONGC spent a total of ₹4,531 crore under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) budget. While more than 2,000 organisations received funding from this pool, 20 Sangh-linked groups accounted for ₹670.97 crore of the total expenditure.
Among these recipient organisations, nine were directly affiliated with the Sangh network, while another nine were established or led by individuals with links to the Sangh. The largest single beneficiary of these funds was a Sangh-linked hospital in Assam.
03Questions over public funds
The investigation emphasizes that these disbursements represent public sector money rather than private charity, raising questions about transparency regarding how hundreds of crores of taxpayers' money reached groups connected to the Sangh.
