Khalid Saifi was arrested in 2020 in connection with the Delhi riots case.

He is a social activist associated with the group “United Against Hate” and was also involved in protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Police had accused him of being part of an alleged conspiracy linked to the riots, after which serious charges including UAPA were filed against him. He remained in judicial custody since 2020 and spent nearly 6 years in jail before being released. The case once again raises questions about prolonged trials and how long justice can take in complex political cases.
