A 25-year-old security guard from West Bengal has been arrested in Bengaluru over alleged links to the Pakistan-based terror group. Police identified the accused as Asaful Mallick, who was working in Hebbagudi, near Electronic City. Acting on an intelligence tip-off, police allege they found that Mallick was in contact with TTP and was spreading its ideology online. Police further allege that he was plotting an attack on the Pakistan Army and had connected with Imran Haider, a TTP member from Afghanistan, whom he allegedly wanted to join. Investigators say Mallick had also tried to obtain an Afghanistan visa but abandoned the plan over lack of funds and family responsibilities. His phone reportedly contained chats, calls and messages with Haider. Mallick has been booked under Section 113(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which covers conspiring, attempting or facilitating a terrorist act or preparatory action.
