01Initial approval granted for coal projects
The Forest Advisory Committee of India's Environment Ministry has granted in-principle approval to two coal mining projects linked to Adani Group subsidiaries. Located in the Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh, these projects cover nearly 1,000 hectares of forest land and could result in the clearance of approximately 52,000 trees.
02Ecological concerns in Raigarh
The proposed mining area contains dense forests of high conservation value, according to the committee's own observations. The advisory panel also highlighted the movement of elephants within and around the designated project locations. Despite acknowledging these ecological sensitivities, the projects are continuing to advance.
