450 NALSAR law students reportedly opposed inviting CJI Surya Kant as chief guest

450 NALSAR law students reportedly opposed inviting CJI Surya Kant as chief guest for their convocation, citing concerns over remarks linked to the Jantar Mantar protest case. In response, BCI Chairman Manan Kumar Mishra initially directed that 2026 NALSAR graduates should not be enrolled as advocates and sought a report from the university on students involved in the campaign. The move triggered sharp criticism from lawyers, academics and students, who argued that enrolment could not be linked to disagreement with a public figure. Within hours, the BCI withdrew the direction.
