Campaigners present alternative education policy at Delhi protest
A retired school principal has presented an alternative to the National Education Policy 2020 during a demonstration at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, calling for a more secular and scientific system.

Activists protesting at Jantar Mantar in Delhi have presented an alternative educational framework called the "Jan Shiksha Niti 2026" (People's Education Policy 2026). The draft policy is being promoted as a replacement for the Union government's National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Sharda Dixit, a retired educator who served as the principal of Narela Senior Secondary School for 25 years, spoke to reporters about the initiative. Dixit said the alternative policy was compiled after campaign groups visited 26 states to consult students, parents, and other stakeholders about their educational requirements.
According to Dixit, those consulted expressed a desire for an education system that is "secular, scientific, and democratic." She criticized the existing NEP 2020, alleging that the government's policy was formulated only to serve the agenda of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
Dixit also challenged the legislative legitimacy of the government's policy, claiming that the NEP 2020 was never formally passed in Parliament. In contrast, she stated that the alternative Jan Shiksha Niti 2026 had been formally approved by a "Jan Sansad" (people's parliament) convened in Bengaluru.
