First NEET paper leak hearing adjourned as CBI fails to send prosecutor

The fast-track court established to handle the NEET paper leak case held its first hearing on July 27. However, the proceedings hit an immediate roadblock when the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) failed to send a lawyer to represent the prosecution. Consequently, the court had to adjourn the hearing.

To prevent future delays, the court directed the appointment of a public prosecutor. The Rouse Avenue Court has scheduled the next hearing for August 3, with the expectation that a public prosecutor will be present by that date.

The delay occurred just four days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised the establishment of fast-track courts to ensure swift and stringent punishment for those involved in exam paper leaks. The early roadblock in the case has raised questions about the actual speed of the fast-track justice system.
