01Justice P.B. Varale on school closures
Supreme Court Justice P.B. Varale has raised concerns over the funding challenges and closure of Marathi-medium schools in Maharashtra. Speaking during a visit to his former school in the state, Justice Varale suggested that minor reallocations of public resources could have protected local educational institutions.
Justice Varale noted that dedicating a tiny fraction of cultural event budgets to the education sector could have had a significant impact on preventing school closures. "Spending just 0.1% of the Kumbh allocation on education could have prevented more than 100-150 Marathi schools from shutting down," he stated.
